OK, I *might* be biased, but I think that flower people are the kindest people🖤 It was something that was very unexpected to me as a newbie entering into the flower world.
It continues to amaze me and I have so many stories, but this dahlia always reminds me of one particularly kind and talented soul: Shanna evokechancyfloral who just opened the_ever_lea this year (do check out both😍)
It was my first year flower farming. I booked my first-ever wedding and I wanted so badly to knock it out of the park. The bride was so gracious and flexible, but I happened to know she was particularly fond of dark dahlias. She didn't have expectations, but I really wanted to include some in her bridal bouquet.
That particular year we had record days in the 90s and my dahlia collection was not quite the monstrosity it is today😉. The weekend of the wedding, I had exactly ZERO dark dahlias and I was devastated.
I had followed Shanna for a while and loved her work. I knew she grew dahlias, but she did not know me from Adam. I sheepishly reached out to her on this very platform and not only did she get back to me right away, but she also invited me over to her home. She showed me around her stunning garden, giving me her one and only perfect Spartacus bloom, along with some procut red sunflowers.
Spartacus was the star in the bridal bouquet and when I told the bride this story, she told me it was her very-favorite bloom among all of them🥰
Shanna's kindness was my first experience of just how awesome flower people are, and I knew I had to grow Spartacus always and always from that day forward.
And bonus: I'm shocked at how abundantly this variety flowers! It's a must grow in my book🖤 ...
